Tour Plan
You will be picked up from Kigali Airport to Bukavu via the Chagungu border. This journey will take you to Congo via Nyungwe National Park with a stopover at Butare National Museum; continue where you will later find the tropical forest of Nyungwe National Park which has got beautiful views and hills covered with a green carpet of African tree species. The forest is also a home to different primates such as Angola colobus, chimpanzees, L’hoests monkeys, and Red colobus, enjoy the beautiful views of tea plantations, Lake Kivu, and cross the Democratic Republic of Congo via the Chagungu border.
This is the beginning of DR. Congo’s tourism with us. Though the country is ravaged by war, your experience will be memorable.
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the tracking headquarters for a briefing about low-land gorillas. The tracking takes 2-3 hrs in the mountainous jungle of Kahuzi –Biega to find the low large gorilla family. The species is the eastern lowland gorilla which is not much different from the famous mountain gorillas found in Uganda’s Bwindi and Virunga National park of Rwanda and Congo. After, you will be transferred to Nyungwe for an overnight.
You will have an early breakfast and report at the Nyungwe Park headquarters for a briefing by the park rangers on the chimp trekking rules. You will after the briefing start the trek in search of the chimps in the verdant rain forest. During the trek, you will have the chance to see other primates such as the Rwenzori colobus, Silver monkey, Chimpanzees, the Grey-cheeked Mangabey, L’hoests monkey, and the Owl faced monkey. You will be transferred to Kigali to catch up with your flight back home
